The Taconite Trail: Managed by the state of Minnesota, the Taconite Trail that stretches 170 miles between Ely and Grand Rapids and boasts some of Minnesota's best snow conditions and terrain. The trail winds through birch and aspen forests, and offers spectacular views from its scenic waysides and rest stops. The Tomahawk Trail: Also managed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the Tomahawk Trail travels 86 miles to Lake Superior's North Shore. Iron Range OHV Park: Gilbert is home to Minnesota's only off-highway vehicle park, which features 1,200 acres of rugged terrain with trails for trucks, ATVs and motorcycles.
